Inevitably a player will want to be a monster in your D&D game.
Some will just want to role-play something different and exotic, others it's all about the monster cool factor,
and then there will be the players that just want their characters to be more powerful
than playing a standard race from from the players handbook.
The 1st two types of gamers are far easier to work with than the later type the power gamer.
We have run all monster or partial monster adventuring parties in our D&D games in the past for all of the above listed reasons.
It can be a fun and rewarding game if everyone is on board for it.
